    ACCIDENT REPORTS

    • I did not get an accident report at the time of the incident. What do I do?

We offer what is called a "Courtesy Report" for this purpose. As a convenience to parties who have been involved in a minor, non-inury accident, which was investigated at the scene, the report below is made available as a courtesy for insurance purposes.

No warrant is made by the Homewood Police Department as to the factual accuracy of this report. The Homewood Police Department investigates all traffic accidents which occur within the city limits of Homewood, at the scene of such accidents.

Note: If an officer has already filled out an accident report for your incident, you don’t need to complete a courtesy report.

    • How long does it take to get my accident report?

Traffic accident reports should be ready five to seven business days after the accident. You may call 205-332-6180 to check on the status of your report.

    • How can I view my accident report once it is ready?

You can pick it up in-person at 310 West Valley Avenue, Monday-Friday, 8a-4p, or CHECK ONLINE HERE

    • SR-13 (Safety Responsibility Accident Report)

The SR-13 (Safety Responsibility Accident Report) is required by the State of Alabama. The SR-13 should be filed anytime there is property damage greater than $250.00. It should be mailed in within 30 days of the accident.

    • If I am not at fault for the accident then why do I need to file the SR-13?

It is in your best interest to file the SR-13 because the at-fault driver may turn out to be uninsured. The Alabama Department of Public Safety can suspend the at-fault party's license until compensation is received by you or your insurance company from the uninsured. The State can only take this action if an SR-13 has been properly filled out and filed with the department.

    • Will my license be suspended if I do not file the SR-13?

In certain situations, a driver's license will be suspended for failure to file an SR-13. Usually, the person who is at-fault in the accident is the only one to get suspended.
